PSP Alert Benchmarking at the CFIA Burnaby Laboratory

We are delighted to announce that PSP Alert, our innovative field-deployable kit for detecting PSP toxins in shellfish, has been dispatched to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency's Burnaby laboratory for side-by-side testing with the gold standard analytical techniques routinely used for shellfish sample analysis. This benchmarking activity, which will last four months, involves dividing shellfish samples received at the CFIA from multiple harvesting sites in the British Columbia area into two aliquots. One aliquot will undergo the AOAC official toxin extraction method followed by toxin detection via high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), while the other will be tested using PSP Alert.

Sensoreal Inc. will publish the results of this benchmarking activity once the testing is complete.
